On Monte Quarin , in the heart of the Collio Goriziano, land of great wines in Friuli Venezia Giulia, there is a magical place, where vineyards, woods, glades intertwine and interpenetrate. Nature is the protagonist, the vines are cultivated with passion, love, ancient wisdom combined with modern cultivation techniques but extremely respectful of the environment, the hum of the bees working in the hives arranged on the edge of the forest is the only slight noise (almost a music) that breaks the silence.
It is Ronco dei Tassi , the company that Fabio and Daniela Coser founded 31 years ago above Cormòns, in the locality of Montona, and now they run with their sons Enrico and Matteo . It was 1989 when Fabio (well-known winemaker, consultant to important companies) and his wife decided to buy a farm of about 9 hectares, 4 of which are vineyards, on the edge of the Plessiva Natural Park, an environmental protection area rich in spontaneous flora and of numerous wildlife. The passion and the continuous commitment placed in the company has led them to achieve important results and great satisfactions. Supported by all this, they bought new vineyards with the intention of slowly increasing the company's production while maintaining a high quality level of the wines produced. Today Ronco dei Tassi - which has happily crossed the finish line of 30 harvests - is spread over an area of 50 hectares of which 23 are vineyards.
"The name of our company derives precisely from its location - explains Enrico Coser -" Ronco "due to the arrangement of the vineyards in well exposed terraces, called ronchi ," dei Tassi "because colonies of yews live here which when the grapes become greedy consumers of the sweetest bunches and warn us that it is the right time to start harvesting it. "
This virtuous relationship between forest and vineyard area, cultivated with extremely environmentally friendly techniques, allows us to truly develop an eco-sustainable viticulture, to which the Cosers absolutely care, to protect their consumers and guarantee a future for their splendid territory, which help to preserve.
"Our production philosophy - explains Enrico - is mainly based on the rigorous attention in the cultivation and cultivation systems of the vineyard, with qualitative and quantitative controls that allow us to get to the transformation of the grapes in the cellar in the healthiest and most natural way possible. . All this allows us to preserve in our wines the characteristics and quality typical of the fruit and the territory from which they originate. "
The passion of the whole family, and the continuous commitment placed with skill in the cellar, has made them achieve important results, so much so that Ronco dei Tassi is today known for the absolute excellence of its wines, award-winning by Italian guides and critics and foreigners. Suffice it to recall that the company as a whole, once with one wine, once with another, has been awarded the prestigious Tre Bicchieri del Gambero Rosso for 20 years . Of great character and style is the extraordinary Fosarin Collio Bianco based on Friulano, Malvasia, Pinot Bianco, standard-bearer of the company that does not fear time, very appreciated also abroad, which also in the Gambero Rosso 2021 Guide has conquered the Three Glasses . Among his admirers, the well-known critic James Suckling. Equally unique is the award-winning Malvasia , among the 10 best Italian wines in the 100 best wines of Italy guide of the Corriere della Sera, which Forbes Speciale Vinitaly 2019 has included among the 100 best wines in the world . Ronco dei Tassi has a strong vocation for white wines: in addition to Fosarin and Malvasia, it produces Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon. They are flanked by the interesting (and of great future) Collio Rosso Cjarandon based on Merlot and Cabernet, and the precious Picolit . Much appreciated on the foreign market, where about 60% of production is exported, they can be found in Italy in the best wine shops, but they can also be purchased directly from the company, where interesting guided tastings can be made upon reservation. It is worth going there, also to meet Enrico Coser and his extraordinary family. And to understand, knowing them, how much passion, commitment, and skill there is behind a glass of their wonderful wine.
