2026 WINTER OLYMPICS GOAL.

Valpolicella sits in the living room of the Dolomites and looks to the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

The Consorzio di Tutela Vini Valpolicella focuses on catering, which on 11 and 12 September will be the partner 'in red' of The Queen of Taste, the gourmet event of the Ampezzo summer organized by the Cortina for Us and Chef Team Cortina association. In the two days of "Valpolicella-Cortina round trip", the project of the Consortium for the fifth edition of the festival, Amarone, Valpolicella Superiore, Ripasso and Recioto will be combined with the menus proposed by the masters of taste of some selected restaurants representing the Dolce Vita gastronomy of the pearl of the Dolomites and beyond, with contemporary dishes, expertly interpreted by a team of Venetian chefs, including starred chefs, as well as by the respective owners of the kitchens.
" The positioning of our wines in high-end catering, starting from that of Veneto, is among the priority objectives of the new promotion policy of the Consorzio Vini Valpolicella - explains the president, Christian Marchesini -. In this context, the inclusion of our event in the schedule of the Cortina gastronomic festival is part of a preparatory path that also projects us towards the 2026 Winter Olympics ".
After this first outward leg, in autumn "Valpolicella-Cortina" will return to Valpolicella, with an incoming program that will involve the team of chefs who are the protagonists of The Queen of Taste.

Consortium for the Protection of Valpolicella Wines
Born in 1924, it is an association that includes winemakers, winemakers and bottlers from the Valpolicella wine production area, a territory that includes 19 municipalities in the province of Verona. The very high representativeness (80% of the producers who use the denomination) allows the Consortium to carry out initiatives that enhance the entire territory: the wine and its land of origin, its history, traditions and peculiarities that make it unique in the world. The Consortium has important institutional roles: it deals with the promotion, enhancement, information of the wines and the Valpolicella territory, the protection of the brand and viticulture in the production area of Valpolicella wines, the vigilance, safeguarding and defense of the denomination. The production area is very large and can be traced back to three distinct areas: the Classic area (Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella, San Pietro in Cariano, Fumane, Marano and Negrar); the Valpantena area, including the homonymous valley; the DOC Valpolicella area, with Verona, Illasi, Tramigna and Mezzane. The indigenous varieties that give life to the wines of the Valpolicella wine appellations are: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara. The wines of the appellation are Valpolicella doc, Valpolicella Ripasso doc, Amarone della Valpolicella and Recioto della Valpolicella both docg.
