The eighth edition of the charity event supporting scientific research in pediatric oncology is about to kick off, preceded by a presentation to authorities and the industry press on May 25th from 7:00 PM at Le Parùle - Marina d'Arechi - Port Village Salerno. Organized by Paola Pignataro and Silvana Tortorella, Buonissimi 2026 will officially open at Port Village Marina d'Arechi on June 22nd with leading figures from the food and wine world: Michelin-starred chefs, pizza makers, fried food vendors, sandwich shops, master pastry chefs, producers, winemakers, craft breweries, and bartenders, with a particular focus on sustainability and gluten-free options. This year, Buonissimi will once again support the Editor project. Thanks to funding from the OPEN OdV Association, CEINGE, the Institute of Advanced Biotechnologies at the University of Naples Federico II, will be able to perform next-generation sequencing and genome editing to identify genetic risk factors as therapeutic targets for the treatment of pediatric cancers.
Anna Maria Alfani, president of the OPEN OdV Association, declared:
"Every year, Buonissimi is a moment of celebration that carries a powerful message: supporting research to offer children increasingly effective and personalized treatments. With the 2026 edition, we will complete the Editor project, after three years of investment and success in the medical field, thanks to intense multidisciplinary collaboration throughout Italy."
Mario Capasso, Associate Professor of Medical Genetics at the Federico II University of Naples and Principal Investigator of CEINGE, the Institute of Advanced Biotechnologies of the University of Naples Federico II, emphasized:
The accuracy of the data obtained over years of work, thanks to collaboration with national and international research centers, now allows us to better understand the mechanisms and genetic predisposition for the development of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. With Giovanni Cazzaniga, Associate Professor of Medical Genetics at the University of Milan-Bicocca, we combined diverse professional skills with a single goal: to collect the largest possible number of samples—a total of 800—to analyze and study for the purpose of identifying DNA mutations likely to trigger the disease. We found that 12% of patients already had the presence of these mutations in their genomic makeup, a result that opens new avenues for treatment and prevention.
Agostino Gallozzi, president of Marina d'Arechi, also renews his support for the initiative:
"We're delighted to welcome Buonissimi to Marina d'Arechi once again. We all need to focus more on social issues. It will certainly be a special evening, where taste meets solidarity and the beauty of our land."
Paola Pignataro and Silvana Tortorella conclude:
Buonissimi is about perseverance, passion, dedication, and a desire to share. Each edition represents a new challenge, but above all, a precious opportunity to involve more and more friends, partners, and companies in a project that unites conviviality, local tradition, and solidarity. Roberto Jannelli, Rosario Augusto, and Emiliano Esposito will be the protagonists of the after-dinner musical performance on the Terrace, the final moment of our food and wine journey.
