The Alta Langa Consortium celebrates 25 years of activity and 10 years of partnership with the Alba International White Truffle Fair, in the name of excellence, food and wine culture and "authentic relationships".

2026 marks the tenth anniversary of the partnership between the Alta Langa Consortium and the Alba International White Truffle Fair . This collaboration began in 2017 and has grown over the years around a shared belief: a region truly thrives when its excellences interact, creating new opportunities for culture, knowledge, and sharing.

An anniversary that takes on an even stronger meaning in the year in which the Fair dedicates its theme to "authentic relationships" : a concept that aptly describes the path forged together by the Alta Langa DOCG and the Alba White Truffle, two deeply identifying products, fruits of the same land and interpreters, each in their own way, of the high hills of the Langhe.

"Our relationship with the Truffle Fair, which began informally when the Consortium was founded in 2001, is one of the collaborations that best illustrates how we intend to promote Alta Langa DOCG," states Consortium President Giovanni Minetti . "It wasn't just about sharing events and promotional opportunities with the Fair, but about building a genuine relationship over time, based on mutual understanding and the desire to jointly promote an extraordinary territory. The Alba White Truffle and Alta Langa DOCG have different identities, of course, but they share the same values: the biodiversity of the territory and its care, respect for human labor, the value of time, and the promotion of excellence. They are both emblems of an unparalleled food and wine culture, one of Piedmont's strongest legacies."

Stefano Mosca , director of the Alba International White Truffle Fair, adds: "We are happy and proud to celebrate 10 years of a partnership that has seen the growth of both the Alba International White Truffle Fair and the Alta Langa Consortium. It is a solid relationship, based on continuous exchange and enrichment based on excellent products and shared values. Love for the territory, passion for quality, and attention to detail have guided the choices of both along the path of evolution we have undertaken. The successes achieved encourage us to continue improving and to look forward with enthusiasm and confidence to the continuation of a genuine and fruitful relationship."

Ten Years of Alta Langa and Truffles

Among the most immediate expressions of this collaboration are the pairings of Alta Langa DOCG and Alba White Truffle, proposed over the years during the Fair's cooking shows by Italian and international chefs. Hundreds of opportunities to combine the Piedmontese Metodo Classico with one of the world's most prized gastronomic products have helped strengthen the perception of Alta Langa DOCG as a gastronomic wine, capable of accompanying and enhancing the complexity of cuisine and, in particular, the Alba White Truffle .

Another emblematic event is the New Year's Eve of the Truffle – Tuber primae noctis , an event conceived as part of the collaboration and conceived not only as a celebratory moment, to toast at midnight with Alta Langa DOCG at the opening of the Alba White Truffle hunting season, but as an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between man, nature and biological times, both of truffles and of wine.

Over the years, the Unusual Dinners and numerous special events of the Fair have also been created, even outside the Piedmontese borders, such as the events at the Yacht Club of Monaco (2021) and in Verbier , Switzerland (2023). Occasions in which Alta Langa DOCG and the Alba White Truffle have together brought the story of Piedmontese food and wine culture to the world.

Among the most significant events was the dinner organized in November 2022 at the Italdesign Prototype Museum , which brought together three expressions of our region's excellence – territory, design and haute cuisine – through the cuisine of chef Luigi Taglienti .

The collaboration also found space in Milan, in October 2019, on the occasion of “Prima dell'Alta Langa” , with a masterclass dedicated to the Alba White Truffle and the presentation, together with chef Davide Oldani , of the XFetta truffle slicer: an example of the ability of the two organizations to build initiatives in which wine, gastronomy, innovation and design become part of a single story.

And again, the Alta Langa Magnum and Truffle Dinners in the setting of Roddi Castle and the numerous dinners dedicated to the Italian and international press, privileged opportunities to introduce opinion leaders to the denomination and its territory through the combination of Alta Langa DOCG wines and the Alba White Truffle.

From promotion to knowledge

Over the course of the decade, the collaboration has progressively expanded, going beyond the scope of events.

The Alta Langa DOCG masterclasses included in the Fair's program offered training and education opportunities for enthusiasts and professionals, while the cooking classes for journalists and international audiences in Roddi provided a firsthand experience of the region, through its iconic products and the work of the people who preserve them.

A collaboration, therefore, that has also built a wealth of shared knowledge over the years.

It is no coincidence that a chapter dedicated to the Alba White Truffle was included in the volume Alta Langa: history of a denomination , further testimony to a shared journey in which wine also becomes a tool for telling the history, culture, and landscape of the highlands of Langa.

A relationship that looks at the territory

The partnership has finally developed an even deeper and more virtuous dimension: that of the protection and valorization of natural heritage .

In 2021, together with the National Truffle Studies Centre , an awareness-raising project was launched aimed at members of the Alta Langa Consortium to encourage the allocation of portions of land for the planting of truffle-symbiotic trees , with the aim of supporting good practices for the development and maintenance of truffle grounds in the hills of the Alta Langa region of origin.

An initiative that well encapsulates the meaning of a collaboration that, over the course of ten years, has gone far beyond product promotion: from the glass to the plate, from gastronomy to culture, right up to the care of the landscape and biodiversity .
