«Our summer program - explains the mayor of Manduria Gregorio Pecoraro - starts from the riches of the territory. And therefore history, culture, nature and food and wine that we want to enhance. We have an excellence such as the Primitivo di Manduria, archeology with the Messapian Walls Park and the underwater one with the Sarcophagi of the King, and finally the natural reserve of Salina Monaci. The initiatives in the pipeline are aimed at highlighting all this and we believe in it a lot. We want the Park, as an extraordinary container of our history, to be at the center of all this. We have planned the various events in compliance with the anti-Covid 19 legislation. We want them to be a showcase for our community, but also an opportunity for tourists to discover, both for those present along our coasts and in neighboring municipalities ".
Even the Councilor for Culture and Tourism Vito Andrea Mariggiò underlines the planning. «This Festival wants to characterize the territory with a wide-ranging cultural review, combining culture and promotion, and making it a place of tourist attraction. An event of great proportions that was born on the logic of collaboration between the public - and therefore the administration - and many private actors. All this to give that kind of quality to an event that can have the strength, as we hope, to present itself as a review of identity and attributable to the city of Manduria. For this reason, the Archaeological Park was chosen, as it is representative of the ancient Messapian origins, but also a place of scientific interest, a space for events and a showcase of the products of our land. Culture is not only a form of entertainment, but also an opportunity for social redemption ».
The initiative is promoted by the Municipality and the Consortium for the Protection of Primitivo di Manduria.
