In Lucca, the Tuscany of wine shows its most unusual features: wines from the Apuan Alps to Maremma. At the Tuscan Coast Wines Preview you can travel along the coast to get to know “small productions and large estates, sketchy stories and strong roots far back in time that, as you can see covering them up to the origin, marked the worldwide fortune of the Tuscan wine production”.

The Tuscan Coast Wines Preview is a consolidated annual event, organized by the Grand Cru Association of the Tuscan Coast that allows you to know about 80 producers of the provinces of Grosseto, Livorno, Pisa, Lucca and Massa Carrara, for a total of more than 400 labels.

The wines of the event meet worthy culinary events: dishes prepared by starred chefs, ranging from themed cultural meetings, taste workshops and local food tastings:

show–cooking “Roundtrip: Tuscan chefs in the world, world chefs in Tuscany” – which will see perform in the kitchen big names of regional and national restaurants, such as Igles Corelli, Loretta Fanella, Cesare Casella, Enrico Bartolini, Michele Martinelli and Valentino Cassanelli,

foreign visitors area, this year with the wines of the Way of Santiago, Galicia and its nearly one hundred native vines. In addition to an extensive market–exhibition with homemade quality food and the inner wine shop to buy the bottles you prefer, there is a full program of tastings guided by industry experts.

Workshops will range from the “Celtic and Oceanic” Spain to the wines that have made the history of the coast, passing through author music (SwingWine: a concert–workshop between wine and live music) to an effervescent finish with a tasting of Franciacorta vintages.

Yet, the unusual characteristic of the anticipation makes the event quite unique and original: at the Wine Preview young wines are tasted and evaluated, stapled from the barrels. For this edition of the 2013 vintage is on stage that, after the aging in cask and then in the bottle, will give life, with the right aging, to excellent products. Or you can taste samples of whole vintages waiting for them to come out on the market, having fun in making predictions waiting for the final maturation that will take place in a few years. And in the game of combinations of masterfully preparaed dishes and glasses by round taste, you can move from room to room looking for refined products and sought after labels.

This year, the opening of the festival is entrusted to Oliviero Toscani, in the dual role of producer and photographer, who on Saturday morning (May 10th) will present the book dedicated to the producers of the Tuscan coast. “The sixty–five greats of the Cru of the Tuscan Coast”, this is the title: a tale of words, drawn by the journalist Francesco Merlo, with a preface by Salvatore Settis, and photographs, taken by Toscani. On the ring they will discuss about Italy, wine, Tuscan tradition and local products, while in the tasting journey there is the best of wine and food.
