On Tuesday 24 October the selection commission met in the Breganze cellar (Vicenza) to blind taste six different barriques proposed by the cellar. The panel - made up of expert tasters, sector journalists, entrepreneurs and representatives of local institutions, including the regional councilor Elena Donazzan and the President of the Regional Council Roberto Ciambetti - chose the best single variety destined to become Santalucia . The sum of the opinions expressed by the jury decreed the victory of the 2022 vintage of Merlot from Monte Rosso , a vineyard in the Ferrata area, designed by volcanic and tufaceous hills: "The harmony between red earth, gentle slopes and selected variety, all governed by a skilful hand, he has created a wine with a generous aromatic profile, endowed with a structure defined by firm and noble tannins – explains Fausto Maculan , owner of the company together with his daughters Angela and Maria Vittoria – The small red and black fruits and the peculiar spicy and toasted notes blend in a sip of great freshness, a guarantee of evolution and longevity".

Like every year, the signature label will be revealed during the official presentation at the Le Calandre restaurant in Sarmeola di Rubano on 14 December. Santalucia 2022 will be characterized by a special artist's touch, linked to a strong project for the dissemination of art in the social sphere
