The theme of the 2024 edition was sustainability , a long-standing theme of the activities of the cooperative group from Verona which, for its dedication in this regard, recently obtained the Equalitas certification. “Poetry is an art form, a tool that deeply connects us to the earth, reflecting our commitment to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future – explains President Luigi Turco –. With this competition we aim to enhance the poetic talents who know how to convey, through their verses, the same attention and care that we and our members put into the winemaking activity every day”.
Established in 2010 as the Cantina Valpantena Poetry Award and now with a broader scope, following the merger of the three different cooperatives into a single large entity representing the Veronese territory in all its declinations, the Cantine di Verona National Poetry Award was created to enhance the rich cultural and literary heritage of the Scaliger and to celebrate the profound ties between poetic art and winemaking, underlining the connection between literary creation and peasant industriousness.
Wineries of Verona
Cantine di Verona is the cooperative wine group, founded in June 2021, which includes Cantina Valpantena, Cantina di Custoza and Cantina Colli Morenici. Its wines are the purest expression of the Veronese territory, the beating heart of the Italian wine scene. From the hills of Valpolicella to the waters of Lake Garda, the wines of Cantine di Verona encapsulate all the beauty and charm of the city of Verona and the lands that surround it, where the cultivation of vines has its roots in centuries of history and wine culture.
