The Children's Harvest was celebrated today at Tenute Navarra, in a joyful moment of celebration, music, and happiness. Fifty children from various Sicilian towns, accompanied by staff from the six foster homes where they currently live and are protected, traveled to Butera (Calabria) to participate in the Navarra Family's grape harvest. The Navarra Family strongly supported and promoted this initiative, which was created in collaboration with Telefono Arcobaleno, one of the leading international organizations working to combat all forms of child abuse.
The Tenute Navarra estates, nestled among the rolling hills of Sicily's hinterland and overlooking views stretching from golden fields to the distant sea, represent not only a virtuous example of sustainable viticulture but also a bastion of culture, hospitality, and human values. Led by Totó Navarra Jr., the estates encompass hectares of vineyards, olive groves, and almond orchards, fully respecting the environment and local traditions. Here, agriculture is not just about production, but also about care: of the land, of people, and of relationships.
The day, titled "From Vine to Life," was dedicated to the various stages of grape and wine production, conceived as a metaphor for life and its different seasons: from growth to blossoming, from maturation to inevitable hardship. Because suffering, when it arises, requires listening, consolation, and protection. But in sharing and communion with others, it finds relief, and in collective celebration—celebrated to the rhythm of nature—it can rediscover hope and a future.
We believe that caring for the land and its people is the same thing: cultivating, protecting, and nurturing. Today, in the children's harvest, we experienced the strength of a community that becomes a family and that can transform adversity into a future.
– Salvatore Navarra
The Children's Harvest aimed to emphasize the dignity and preciousness of every person, especially the youngest and most vulnerable, who deserve acceptance, listening, and care. It is an invitation to build bridges between generations, to educate respect for life in all its forms, to tune into the rhythms of nature to learn that every end is also a beginning, and that every season, even the darkest, can contain within itself a seed of light.
Among the rows of vines at Tenute Navarra, kissed by the late August sun and lulled by the intense scent of ripe grapes, the children enjoyed an authentic, educational, and deeply symbolic experience: picking grapes, listening to stories, touching the fruits of the farmers' labor, and above all, feeling that, like the vine, their lives can thrive if rooted in good soil, cultivated with love.
