An exclusive place rich in history in the heart of Montello, the delicacies of the area expertly prepared by expert hands and a selection of wines capable of telling the story of a place and its traditions: the Abbey of Sant'Eustachio , a monumental complex built around the year 1000. Completely restored thanks to the patronage of Giusti Wine founder Ermenegildo Giusti , the Abbey hosts "Eccellenze in Abbazia" on Thursday, July 16th . This gala dinner is promoted and organized by the Montello a Tavola association and is one of the most anticipated events of the summer. The evening offers a shared narrative of the Montello and Asolo area, told through dishes, wines, products, and relationships, uniting food and wine, culture, live music, and solidarity in a site of great historical and scenic charm. All proceeds , net of expenses, will be donated to Il Filo di Simo , a volunteer organization that offers support to those experiencing emotional distress.
The Eccellenze in Abbazia menu is designed by the restaurateurs of the Montello a Tavola association and accompanied by a selection of local wines. For Giusti, the chosen wine is Gabriele Manzoni Bianco Asolo Montello DOC 2024, paired with tortelli filled with Bacca del Re cheese aged in Recantina, served with hazelnut butter, raisins, and a Recantina reduction. During the dinner, the third issue of Slow Montello magazine, dedicated to the culture, stories, and excellence of the area, will also be previewed.
There are 200 seats available, with reservations required, at a cost of €115 per person. The event is organized under the patronage of the Municipality of Nervesa della Battaglia in collaboration with the Asolo and Montello Wine Route, the Asolo Montello Wine Consortium, and the Montello Area Brand – DMC Montello. It is supported by Centro Marca Banca and with the contribution of the Treviso-Belluno | Dolomiti Chamber of Commerce, as part of the Urban Geographies project.

Statements from Excellencies in the Abbey
Ermenegildo Giusti, founder of Giusti Wine :
The Abbey of Sant'Eustachio is a place that preserves memory, beauty, and historical depth. Seeing it come to life through an evening like Excellence in the Abbey means restoring its authentic function: that of welcoming people, building relationships, and offering the region a context worthy of its history. When such a significant place is once again inhabited with respect and intelligence, it can once again speak powerfully to the present.
Mara Fontebasso, mayor of Nervesa della Battaglia:
"Eccellenze in Abbazia" ( Excellence in the Abbey) is an event that brings together many valuable elements for our region: the quality of our food and wine offerings, the promotion of a symbolic site like the Abbey of Sant'Eustachio, and a concrete charitable purpose. As the Administration, we are pleased to support an event that contributes to strengthening the identity of Nervesa and the Montello area, demonstrating how collaboration between associations, businesses, and institutions can generate value for the entire community."
Ezio Guizzo, president of Montello a Tavola:
"Eccellenze in Abbazia represents one of the highlights of our work as an association. It's an opportunity for the Montello a Tavola restaurateurs to come together to create an evening that showcases the region through cuisine, wine, products, and collaboration with many like-minded partners. The fact that all this translates into concrete support for Il Filo di Simo makes the event even more significant, as it combines quality, participation, and responsibility."
Paolo Mair, president of the Montebelluna delegation of Ascom Confcommercio Treviso
" Events like Eccellenze in Abbazia demonstrate how much the region can express when businesses, associations, and institutions share a common vision and project. As Ascom Confcommercio Treviso, we wholeheartedly support initiatives that enhance the work of businesses, promote food and wine excellence, and strengthen Montello's identity as a quality destination. Events like this help build relationships, generate attractiveness, and offer new opportunities for commerce, catering, and hospitality. It is through this ability to network that the region can continue to grow, with concrete benefits for businesses and the entire community."
Claudio Alessandrini, General Manager of CentroMarca Banca:
The Montello a Tavola association has proven to be a true driving force for development and promotion for the entire Montello area, capable of connecting restaurateurs, businesses, and institutions in a coordinated manner to promote our local identity. As CentroMarca Banca, we are particularly proud to partner with virtuous organizations in the area, capable of combining a gala evening like Eccellenze in Abbazia with a noble charitable purpose like that of Il Filo di Simo . This is the most beautiful and tangible testimony of a community that knows how to work together, leaving no one behind.
Simone Rech, President of the Asolo Montello Wine Route:
This is an important initiative to promote the region's typical products and its denominations. The project focuses on wine, oil, and cheese, but also on the restaurant industry's ability to transform these products into authentic experiences, becoming ambassadors for the region. Our food and wine excellence represents not only an economic and cultural asset, but also a major tourist attraction for Asolo Montello.
Michele Pozzobon, President of Fipe-Confcommercio Treviso
This dinner is a comprehensive vision: of institutions, partners, associations, professionals, and producers. Thanks to Montello a Tavola for bringing everyone together and for the profound inspiration that Eccellenze in Abbazia offers us, almost a tradition that nourishes our values. It embodies all the magic of food, of being together, and of relationships. Thanks go to our colleagues at the Panificatori Group, who generously support this event. Here, in these places, form is beauty, and beauty is substance. In this regard, let us remember an important word that we use daily and which is worth reflecting on: Eccellenze in Abbazia is a "gala" dinner. It is no coincidence that within these walls, in the mid-16th century, Galateo was born, the manual of "good manners" where we rediscover the roots of our society. This text reminds us that the table is not just a place where we eat, but also where human relationships are nurtured. Galateo teaches us that "bon ton" is not rhetoric, but the essence of our work, of pleasure, conviviality, and inclusion.”
