With the 20th harvest of Raboso Piave, the boys produced over 1500 bottles, the proceeds of which will contribute to the purchase of 7 beds for the new headquarters La casa del cuore : here they will be able to spend their weekends independently in a safe and shared environment.
The project will be officially presented at Vinitaly on Sunday 6 April, at the stand of the Veneto Region, where the President of the Association Maria Grazia Lava and some young people will talk about the initiative and present the bottles of Raboso Piave.
“We have been collaborating with AIPD – Marca Trevigiana since 2005 and today we are celebrating an important milestone that combines inclusion, valorization and concrete support for people's independence – says Sara Cecchetto , the company's sustainability manager –. The initiative was born from the need to respond to new needs that emerged thanks to the field work of the association that for twenty years has been committed to promoting the social inclusion and well-being of people with Down syndrome. We are truly proud to support a project that aims to offer an experience of real autonomy, supporting young people in this need”.
The Raboso del Piave was bottled on Saturday 29 March by the same AIPD group , protagonist in every phase of the process: Stefano and Tommaso at the filling, Leonardo and Davide at the corking machine, Matteo at the capper, while Erika, Benedetta, Giulia, Marta, Giuliano, Michael and Nicola took care of the labelling and packaging. The initiative follows the 20th inclusive harvest – which took place last autumn – and, in addition to the classic format bottles, it saw the creation of 10 magnums decorated by the boys that will be assigned by drawing lots to 10 lucky people among the project's donors.
An adventure that began almost by chance in October 2005 , when Giorgio Cecchetto and his wife Cristina hosted some families from the then newly formed AIPD – Marca Trevigiana section, involving the young people in the harvest of Raboso grapes. A moment of sharing that has turned into an annual event , enriched over time with new initiatives, such as the solidarity threshing of the ancient Mentana wheat.
Today, the project is part of the social autonomy activities of the AIPD and promotes Raboso del Piave, the only native red grape variety of the Marca Trevigiana , as a symbol of resilience and community. At the same time, it exalts the traditions and history of the territory, promoting the value of human relationships and the right to autonomy and independence for all people.
