Cantina Tollo joins forces with the Abruzzo, Lazio, and Molise National Park to protect the Marsican brown bear.

Cantina Tollo Group supports the Abruzzo, Lazio, and Molise National Park in a project dedicated to protecting the Marsican brown bear , one of the rarest and most precious species in Italy's natural heritage. Specifically, the Abruzzo-based cooperative will contribute to the purchase and regeneration of satellite collars used in monitoring the species, essential tools for studying its movements, collecting data useful for scientific research, and supporting daily field work. This choice stems from a deep connection with Abruzzo, its identity, and the values ​​of respect, responsibility, and care for the land that have guided the Group's work since its founding in 1960.

The project is linked to the restyling of the Animaletti organic wine line Cantina Tollo—comprising Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOP, Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOP, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo DOP, Pecorino and Passerina Terre d'Abruzzo IGP, and Primitivo Puglia IGP—features a sticker with the Park's emblem on its labels . The new image stems from the desire to further enhance the line's identity and its connection to nature and the local area. The graphic design enhances this narrative, transforming the packaging into a tool for raising awareness of biodiversity and environmental protection. This approach is consistent with the cooperative's commitment to sustainability, further consolidated through the Equalitas certification, which attests to an integrated approach to environmental, social, and economic sustainability and engages the entire organization and its relationship with the local area.

A healthy, intact, and biodiversity-rich environment represents an asset for the entire region and is also an important prerequisite for supporting quality production, local identities, and economies that respect natural resources. The collaboration with Cantina Tollo recognizes this principle and translates it into a concrete commitment to conservation. The contribution to bear monitoring and the support for the IBA International Conference make this partnership particularly significant."

The collaboration between Cantina Tollo and the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park also includes support for the International Bear Association (IBA) Congress , which will be held in Pescasseroli (L'Aquila) from September 20 to 25, 2026. The congress will bring together scientists, professionals, government authorities, NGOs, and local communities to share knowledge, research, and best practices from around the world.

The new labels from the Animaletti line will be available in supermarkets from September.

Cantina Tollo is today one of the most important and well-established wineries in Italy. It sells 14 million bottles annually, boasts approximately 650 members, and 2,500 hectares of cultivated land in a region that has always been suited to wine production, home to the Tullum DOCG, one of Italy's smallest appellations with centuries-old roots, as evidenced by the remains of an ancient Roman villa discovered in Tollo, where Feudo Antico, the Cantina Tollo Group's artisanal incubator, now stands. Cantina Tollo's vineyards extend from the coastal hills to the slopes of the Maiella, enjoying a typically Mediterranean climate characterized by significant temperature variations. Production focuses on the area's typical and native grape varieties (Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Pecorino, Passerina, Maiolica, and Cococciola), traditionally trained using the pergola system, with a strong commitment to experimentation in the vineyard and cellar.
Cantina Tollo bottles are distributed throughout Italy, in almost all European Union countries, particularly Germany, the Netherlands, France, Denmark, and the United Kingdom, and overseas in Japan, the United States, and Canada. Cantina Tollo is also present in Russia, India, and China.

The Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park , established on private initiative in 1922 and established by Royal Decree in 1923, is among the oldest national parks in Italy and Europe and represents one of the most significant historical experiences of nature conservation in our country.
Mountains, valleys, forests, meadows, rivers, streams, and lakes are home to an extraordinary wealth of plant and animal species, including some particularly rare and representative of the Apennines, such as the Marsican brown bear and the Apennine chamois. Visiting the Park means entering a territory where the presence of wildlife can be perceived through tracks and signs, while respecting the animals and their spaces.
In 2017, some of the Park's ancient beech forests were recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites as part of the serial site dedicated to the primeval and ancient beech forests of Europe.
