ALTA BADIA BORN SKI WINE AMBASSADOR TO BRING THE WINE CULTURE TO HEIGHT

The partnership between the Consorzio Vini Alto Adige and Alta Badia, in collaboration with the Ski Schools of Alta Badia, has given way to a unique project of its kind which provides a basic oenological training course for masters of skiing with the aim of making them real ambassadors of South Tyrolean wine.

South Tyrol and in particular Alta Badia is certainly one of the most popular destinations for winter tourism.

The success is not only due to the beauty of the area, located in the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but also to the South Tyrolean food and wine offer, rich in local wine and gastronomic excellence. Alta Badia in recent years has increasingly emerged as a place that offers the maximum expression of moments of pleasure in the mountains. In this direction, the moments related to food and wine represent a unique opportunity to discover the place at 360 °.

NEW 2020/21: SKI WINE AMBASSADOR
To enhance the winning combination of good food and snow-covered slopes, the Ski Wine Ambassador project was born, strongly desired by the Consorzio Vini Alto Adige and Alta Badia with the aim of enhancing the food and wine offer proposed inside the refuges located in 2000m. The protagonists of this project are the ski instructors, who in this context represent important reference figures for those who spend their winter holidays in the mountains.
The ski instructors and instructors are mentors for guests arriving in South Tyrol and, by virtue of this relationship, they are identified as real experts and ambassadors of the area. We want to offer them the opportunity to deepen the aspects related to the viticulture of our region, informing and training them about the many facets that South Tyrol offers from the enological point of view. The project includes two training days organized by the South Tyrolean Sommelier Association, which will make available the expertise of the trainer Sommeliers to teach the ski instructors the basics of tasting, the differences and the potential of South Tyrolean wines. At the end of the training each participant will have become a real ambassador of South Tyrolean wine and will receive a certificate of participation and a personalized corkscrew.

THE AWARD FOR WINE CULTURE AT THE ÜTIA DE BIOCH REFUGE
This year Alta Badia will not only be the forerunner for the Ski Wine Ambassador project, but will also become the protagonist of the Wine Culture Award, honored honoris causa at the Ütia de Bioch refuge located at 2000m. The Award has been recognized annually since 2004 to companies in the gastronomic sector that stand out in the development of wine culture in South Tyrol. This year, the jury made up of the Board of Directors of the Consorzio Vini Alto Adige has decided to award the Ütia de Bioch refuge, on the slopes of the Alta Badia ski area.
