The Masi Foundation has long been committed to promoting and enhancing the territory, population, cultural heritage, the great intellectual and production capacity of the Venetian Civilization. Particular attention has been paid to the culture and wine production, representing particular characteristics of the Veneto region.

In line with these objectives, the Masi Award, now in its 34th edition, identifies the personalities who have distinguished themselves in the various disciplines for their commitment to the promotion of universal values.

«This 34th Masi Award – Sandro Boscaini, Chairman of Masi Agricola and deputy Chairman of the Masi Foundation, said – is an expression of a culture which denies the conventional, capable of exporting the values of a region in the world with that familiar feature typical of a wine that has succeeded in becoming glocal».

These are the Masi Awards assigned this year:

Venetian Civilization Award:

–Elisa
, an artist who with her music evokes a journey in search for freedom;

–Carlo Rovelli, worldwide famous, able to combine the rigor of theoretical physics with the dissemination to the general public;

–Massimiliano Alajmo, cook, among the most celebrated in Italy and in the world.

The Grosso d’Oro Veneziano was conferred on the Italian Navy in the person of his Chief of Staff, Admiral Giuseppe De Giorgi, in recognition of the noble humanitarian work of rescue at sea for thousands of migrants who have been risking their lives for years.

The Wine Civilization Award goes to Giuseppe Martelli for the contribution that the culture and the world of wine receive from its commitment and its associated institutions.

Again this year, the five winners have signed the Barrel of Amarone, a symbol of the recognition.

«The signing of the Barrel of Amarone commemorates an ancient rite – Boscaini continues – when it was customary for nobles to sign the vats of wine chosen. Today, as in the past, the wine seals the authenticity of those universal values that identify our civilization». For Isabella Bossi Fedrigotti, Chairwoman of the Masi Foundation, organizer of the Award: «The 34th Masi Award epitomizes the spirit of this time. The foundation has the task is to highlight those performers who, in the various disciplines, materialize the making of culture».
