Having returned from the international ProWein trade fair, the Asolo Montello Consortium launches an appeal: Germany is a historic market that still offers many opportunities, and protecting it remains essential.

Indeed, the Düsseldorf fair shows that Italian wine, and in particular Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG, still arouses great interest. " We will continue to invest in the fair and in Germany; indeed, our hope is that, especially in these difficult times, team spirit will be strengthened," says Consortium President Michele Noal. . >>

According to a UIV survey, in fact, in 2025 Europe closed with a slight growth (0.5%) equal to almost 3.2 billion euros. In this context , Germany confirms its position as one of the main markets for Italian wine and is stable compared to 2024 at 1.14 billion euros (0.5%), despite recording a decline in volumes (474 million liters, -3.2%).

Overall, Italian wine exports reached 7.78 billion euros in 2025, with the declines mainly concentrated in non-European markets .

In Europe, the Netherlands (5.6%) and France (3.6%) also grew, confirming the EU as the most stable area in 2025. Furthermore, according to data reported by the Deutsche Wein Institut (DWI), in 2024 Italian wine held the highest market share in Germany (18%), followed by Spain with 14% (down 1% compared to the previous year) and France with 11% (up 1%).

Besides Germany, Switzerland also represents a highly valuable market, with over €400 million in imports. For both countries, ProWein remains the reference trade fair, and Italian wine cannot afford to abandon it, attracted by other emerging events, first and foremost Wine Paris.

"ProWein began as a trade fair aimed at the German-speaking market. Over the years, it has become increasingly global, and today it seems to be returning to its roots," adds Noal. "Perhaps a natural evolution, which should certainly give us pause, but which cannot justify abandoning such an important event."

The Consorzio Tutela Asolo Montello has already confirmed its participation in the next edition, with the intention of further strengthening its presence, also extending it to the red wines of the Montello DOCG and Montello Asolo DOC denominations, another jewel in the crown of the area.
