Over 300 wine lovers address 10 technical requests to the candidates for the European Championships, elaborated by the wine entrepreneur Sandro Bottega, one of the most profound experts in the sector, head of the Venetian group of the same name, who wrote the Decalogue.
The themes identified by Sandro Bottega range from production capacity to sustainability, from the simplification of regulations to the strengthening of controls.
The issues were then submitted to 300 wine lovers in collaboration with the specialized marketing and advertising magazine Spot and Web .

From the study carried out on a panel of 300 wine lovers and enthusiasts, aged between 18 and 65, it emerges that there are many reasons for this global success of Prosecco, but at the same time there would be just as many margins for improvement in the name of quality and value creation.
Let's see the ranking of the 10 priorities to increasingly improve the quality of Prosecco, which wine lovers direct to the candidates for the European Championships; and which, if accepted by the EP, would be good for everyone: for consumers but also for producers, allowing them to overcome the "inferiority complex" compared to champagne.
In first place (52% of internet users) we find the "promotion of the uniqueness and versatility of Prosecco": freshness, low acidity, low alcohol content, fruity aromas, authenticity go well with every recipe from every Italian region, representing the whole nation in one glass.
In second place, wine lovers suggest "not increasing production further" (46% of internet users) because, as the great Italian reds teach, to create value you must work above all on quality and not just on quantity.
On the third step of the podium is "protecting cultivation with organic or sustainable systems" (for 43%) to be increasingly attentive to truly preserving the territory.
In fourth place is "simplification of the rules but strengthening controls by the authorities and toughening the penalties for fraud" (38% think so), given that today there are 23 different control bodies.
Fifth place for "Building a prosecco university or academy" (34%), to improve the technical capacity of entrepreneurs, to build new generations of winemakers and constant technical evolution.
Sixth place (for 29%) thanks to its well-established worldwide notoriety for "using prosecco in all international public events as a wine of peace", i.e. donated by Italy to all Heads of State visiting Italy.
In seventh place we find "establish a promotion committee made up of marketing experts and not technicians" (for 25%), which for example removes the current limits on the creativity of packaging and labels.
Eighth place "Protecting the denomination in countries that do not respect the WTO" (18%), Australia and Brazil first and foremost.
In ninth place, introducing the possibility of "producing a Prosecco Riserva and a classic method Prosecco with 12 months of fermentation" (according to 16% of opinions).
Tenth place (for 7%) "Limit the production of cooperative societies to half of the entire market", in order to increasingly focus on quality and the creation of value.
