The U.S. Trademark Office has recognized the certified quality and origin to Lambrusco "Emilia"


  Davide Frascari, the President of the Consortium for the Protection of Emilia IGT Wines, stated: «With this official recognition by the U.S. Trademark Office the "Emilia" brand is identified at the international level, but especially in the domestic market in the United States, as the hallmark of quality and certified origin, (...), the initiative is of great importance – the president commented – especially to safeguard the work of the wine companies that are members of the consortium, that will have to use exclusively the "Emilia" mention in the presentation of the wines produced in accordance with the production specifications».


The official recognition of the U.S. Trademark Office is extremely important for economy and protection.

«The protection of the brand – Ermi Bagni, director of the Consortium, explained – has always been our priority. We strongly believe that this result will bring a significant benefit to our exports in the U.S. market, a market that offers many opportunities of growth and development».

«With this certification – Bagni continued – they awarded the commitment of the Consortium for the Protection of Emilia Wines in safeguarding the economic value of the "Emilia" geographical designation of origin, and the general interests of the community, of the territory of origin in order to guarantee the image of Lambrusco and protect the consumers’ choices».


A defense for producers and consumers against the incredible cases of counterfeiting of Lambrusco. Bagni added that with the registered trademark «we can prevent further fraud risks for the world of Lambrusco, which is one of the most imitated Made in Italy in other countries»



The Consortium of Emilia IGT Wines has 6,595 hectares of IGT vineyards with a production of 1.5 million quintals of grapes and 1 million 200 thousand hectoliters of IGT wines exported around the world.

The Consortium represents as much as 76% of growers and 79% of the area of the associated companies of Modena and Reggio.

The U.S. market is an important part of Lambrusco wine exports and is highly appreciated by the Americans.
