At the Domus Bergamo Wine, 2nd appointment with "I Famosi del Vino"

From Umbria to Emilia Romagna, from Sagrantino to Lambrusco. After the huge success of the first, full of emotions evening, the "I Famosi del Vino" exhibition in collaboration with SACBO (Bergamo–Orio al Serio Civil Airport Society) returns, on Friday, 17th July, at 6:30 p.m., in the charming frame of the Domus Bergamo Wine with the second, unmissable, artist of glasses: Christian Bellei, owner of Cantina della Volta, one of the most interesting companies in Modena.

The meeting, with the theme "The Renaissance of Lambrusco", will be an opportunity to get to know one of the masters of Italian viticulture, "workshop child" as he likes to be called, who returned to the wine cellar to give continuity to the production started in the 20s by his father, Giuseppe Bellei, who first produced Classic Method Sparkling Wines with Lambrusco.

Cantina della Volta, in effect, has come back to life in 2010, at the behest of a group of friends and wine lovers, is a tribute to the wine tradition of the Modena area: the products of Christian Bellei are always oriented to the historical method of fermentation in the bottle, of which Lambrusco "RIMOSSO" is the major example, representing a great homage of the winemaker to its roots. Other labels, however, are sparkling wines produced with the classic method that Christian has long studied in France, with his father, then bringing back the processing techniques on the grapes of the winery of Bomporto.

«At the basis of our whole production there is one condition: to make wine "in my way", that is, improving all the skills and knowledge about wine that I have acquired during long years spent alongside my father Giuseppe, great lover of French sparkling wines. As I always like to repeat, wine is not a mathematical formula: it is the result of careful research and unrestrained passion. Even knowing how to taste a wine, in my view, is a legacy and if we are able to produce good wines we will deliver to the future the best traditions of the past»– Christian Bellei anticipated.

In his company, in effect, you can retrace, through small samples, the story of the winery: from the selection of grapes suitable for harvest to pressing, from vinification and following bottling up to the preparation for the sale.

Finally, to anticipate the evening, there will be, on Thursday, July 16th, at 7:00 p.m., a new stage of the cycle "Meeting with Valcalepio, the word to the producer", hosting, in the Domus Bergamo Wine, the Cantina Sociale Bergamasca (Bergamo’s Cooperative Winery), that has always been the driving force of viticulture in Bergamo: with 120 members, a total area of about 160 hectares and a production of 800,000 bottles of wine, the Bergamo’s Cooperative Winery, effectively, is the largest producer of the Valcalepio Consortium of which it has been owning the DOC since 1974 and its presence in Domus is a good opportunity to enjoy closely the productions of the local wine culture.

To enjoy up close the extraordinary production of the Italian wine culture, the 100 grape varieties, for a drink or dinner with the flavour of high quality, you can contact RistoLab Domus Bergamo Wine (tel. 340 1929798; open daily from 10:30 a.m. to midnight, closed on Mondays).
