With the publication of its 2024/2025 Sustainability Report , Librandi renews its commitment to ethical, transparent, and responsible viticulture for the fifth consecutive year. This document captures a year of decisions, investments, and concrete actions, confirming the Calabrian company as a benchmark for sustainable agriculture in Italy.
"For us, sustainability is a founding principle, not a slogan ," emphasizes the Librandi family . "It means facing new environmental, production, and cultural challenges every day, and choosing to address them in a way that is consistent with our identity. With this new report, we want to convey the complexity of a journey that begins in the soil, passes through the cellars, and reaches the market, always with the goal of improving, growing, and contributing positively to the community around us."
The 2024/2025 Sustainability Report was prepared following the most up-to-date ESG criteria and confirms the renewal of the prestigious Equalitas certification for the fifth consecutive year. This international recognition attests to the concreteness and consistency of Librandi's approach, measured through objective indicators on three fundamental pillars: environment, society, and economy.
For the company, Equalitas represents not a goal, but a motivation to constantly improve. This is demonstrated by the close monitoring of its carbon and water footprint , the use of renewable energy, the reduction of waste, and the adoption of circular economy practices.
At the heart of the Report is the strengthening of the Biopass project, developed with Sata Studio Agronomico , which allows for the analysis of the microbiological biodiversity of soils and the identification of targeted agronomic strategies.
Librandi integrates this scientific approach with concrete actions to protect the vineyard ecosystem: planting honey plants, installing beehives, bug hotels, and artificial nests. These practices promote natural balance, protect wildlife, and improve the vineyards' resilience to climate change.
The active conservation of over 70 hectares of woodland and Mediterranean scrub and the exclusive use of organic fertilizers complete a mosaic of interventions inspired by the principles of regenerative viticulture.
The sustainability journey extends beyond the vineyards. The company has adopted water and energy consumption monitoring systems and continues to invest in photovoltaic systems, reducing the environmental impact of its production activities.
At the same time, the Varietal Garden preserves over 200 native Calabrian grape varieties, a priceless genetic heritage that demonstrates the company's commitment to researching and protecting the region's viticultural roots.
A virtuous example of a circular economy is the collaboration with Distilleria F.lli Caffo and Fattoria della Piana : the pomace becomes grappa, the distillation residue feeds a biogas plant and the digestate returns to the vineyards as a natural fertilizer.
The Report also devotes considerable space to social issues. Librandi promotes ongoing training, ensures gender equality in all roles, and strengthens its ties with the local community. Initiatives include the blood drive in collaboration with AVIS , now in its fourth year, and the "Schools in the Vineyard" project, which introduces young people to sustainable agriculture.
Librandi also interprets sustainability as culture and sharing. The company is strengthening its value-based approach in communications and marketing, offering content consistent with the narrative of an identity that unites agriculture, culture, and hospitality. From hospitality at the winery to wine-related events, educational tours at the Vi.Te.S. Museum , and campaigns promoting the region like the Critone Summer Edition , everything contributes to building authentic dialogue with consumers and the community.
