The plenary assembly gave the green light to the merger of the Consortium which will represent the articulated universe of Lambrusco in a unified manner. Full operation from 1 January 2021.

With full unanimity on the part of the plenary assemblies of the three consortia, the Consorzio Tutela Lambrusco is now a reality and will be fully operational starting from 1 January 2021 .

After the favorable opinion expressed in unison on June 26 by the Boards of Directors, the definitive stage has now arrived with the approval by the assemblies of the respective consortia. Gathered on Monday 28 September, the assemblies sanctioned the merger by incorporation of the "Consorzio Tutela del Lambrusco di Modena", the "Consortium for the Protection and Promotion of PDO Reggiano and Colli di Scandiano and Canossa Wines" and the "Consorzio di Tutela Vini del Reno DOC ".

"The unanimous vote in favor of the shareholders' meetings was the last step that allows us to look to the future with hope and optimism: we have a lot of work to plan to enhance the image of one of the most representative wines of Italy" says Claudio Biondi , president of the Consortium for the Protection of Lambrusco di Modena . "The new consortium, as we have emphasized several times, allows a district that has important numbers, to be able to decide together communication strategies and share international promotion projects, while leaving the absolute decision-making independence of the individual denominations".

The new Consortium represents eight denominations that are found between Modena and Reggio Emilia - Lambrusco di Modena DOC, Lambrusco di Sorbara Doc, Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro DOC, Lambrusco Salamino di S. Croce DOC, Reggiano DOC, Colli di Scandiano and di Canossa DOC, Reno DOC and Bianco di Castelfranco Emilia IGT - for a total of about 16,600 hectares of vineyards and a production that in 2019 was just over 42 million bottles of Lambrusco DOC, which rise to almost 170 million also taking into consideration those certified IGT . "These are important numbers for a wine that has many souls and interpretations depending on the many varieties used and the different territories in which it found a home. The times were now ripe for the creation of a single Consortium to act as director - concludes the president Biondi -. Lambrusco is already known all over the world, but now it can represent the image of Italy better and more coherently than in the past in many national and international contexts ".
