Created in collaboration with Vigna Veritas, the new map illustrates the geological and landscape characteristics of the ten Alto Piemonte appellations, becoming a new reference point for producers, operators, and enthusiasts.

The Consorzio Tutela Nebbioli Alto Piemonte presents the first map of the Alto Piemonte territories , a project born with the aim of providing a tool for understanding, enhancing and promoting one of the most fascinating and complex wine-growing regions in Italy.

" Alto Piemonte is a mosaic of territories, soils, and landscapes that make each denomination unique and unrepeatable ," comments Andrea Fontana , President of the Consorzio Tutela Nebbioli Alto Piemonte. " We felt the need to equip ourselves with a tool capable of clearly and scientifically rigorously describing this extraordinary wealth. The map represents an important cultural as well as promotional investment: it will be a valuable tool for producers, for those studying the territory, and for anyone, in Italy and abroad, who wishes to explore the characteristics that make our wines so distinctive. "

Created in collaboration with Davide Ferrarese and his Vigna Veritas working group, the map offers a detailed reading of the geological and morphological peculiarities of the ten denominations that make up the wine heritage of Alto Piemonte: Boca DOC, Bramaterra DOC, Colline Novaresi DOC, Coste della Sesia DOC, Fara DOC, Gattinara DOCG, Ghemme DOCG, Lessona DOC, Sizzano DOC and Valli Ossolane DOC

" The project's primary focus," says VignaVeritas, "is soil geology, a crucial element for understanding the identity and diverse expressions of the Nebbiolo grapes of Alto Piemonte. Along with depicting the main geological formations, the map also highlights the elevations of the hills, waterways, main population centers, and the distribution of vineyards, thus offering a comprehensive view of the landscape that characterizes this area. " The map was born from the Consortium's Board of Directors' desire to create a reference tool for promoting Alto Piemonte, capable of describing the territory's complexity and uniqueness with scientific rigor. Intended for winemakers, industry professionals, enthusiasts, and international stakeholders, it will be a key tool for the Consortium's promotional and outreach activities in Italy and around the world.

The contribution of Vigna Veritas , a company specializing in the study of viticultural terroir and applied cartography for the world of wine, was crucial to the project's realization. Led by Davide Ferrarese, the working group integrates agronomic, geological, pedological, and cartographic expertise to develop analytical tools for the valorization of wine-growing areas. Through a multidisciplinary approach based on scientific data, Vigna Veritas produces thematic maps that allow us to understand and interpret the connection between soil, landscape, and wine production, contributing to the protection and communication of the territories' identity.

Available in paper format, the new map will become one of the Consortium's main tools for promoting Alto Piemonte in Italy and international markets, helping to spread an ever-deeper understanding of the winemaking heritage of its denominations and their extraordinary connection to the territory.
