Marchesi Frescobaldi, one of the leading Italian wineries has announced that it has signed a definitive agreement for the acquisition of Domaine Roy & fils, one of the most prestigious producers in Oregon located in the heart of the Willamette Valley.

“At this point in our expansion we took the opportunity to acquire the beautiful Domaine Roy & fils estate in Oregon, one of the best Pinot Noir growing regions in the world. Becoming part of this community is a dream come true”these are the words of Lamberto Frescobaldi, President of Marchesi Frescobaldi, who adds – “I would like to thank Marc-Andre ' Roy on behalf of the Frescobaldi family for offering us this opportunity in Oregon to do what we do best, cultivate beautiful vineyards, produce wines and offer our customers iconic products”.

Domaine Roy & fils was founded in 2012 by Marc-Andre ' Roy with Jared Etzel, continuing the work of their fathers who co-founded the Beaux Freres winery in 1991. The Roy family was accompanied on this trip by 26 friends from Quebec. Domaine Roy & fils immediately joined the group of producers of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Oregon well known in the world. Many vintages produced to date have consistently received great accolades and high scores.

With the development of the latest vineyards planted in full maturity, the estate is spread over 40 acres in two locations and supplies all the grapes necessary for the production of Domaine Roy & fils. The vineyards are exclusively Pinot Noir (35 acres) and Chardonnay (5 acres), they are cultivated 100% organically and do not require emergency irrigation.

Domaine Roy & fils Winery and Iron Filbert Vineyard is located 45 minutes southwest of Portland near the small town of Dundee in the Dundee Hills AVA appellation, home to some of the Willamette Valley's most prestigious wineries. The other vineyard area is called Quartz Acorn and is located 25 minutes east of the winery, in the prestigious Yamhill-Carlton AVA appellation, near the Louis Jadot's Resonance winery and the Jackson family's Gran Moraine winery

Other well-known Oregon wineries are close to Domaine Roy & fils such as Domaine Serene, Beaux Freres and Domaine Drouhin.

The Domaine Roy & fils estate is a structure made up of two floors, where the hospitality and offices are located on the upper floor, while the winemaking and aging cellars are located on the lower floor. Construction was completed in 2015 and features the design signature of Waterleaf Architecture. The cellar uses the natural cooling effect of the ground and has been designed for natural air circulation.

Marc-Andre Roy will remain in Domaine Roy & fils as a member of the Board of Directors and as a minority shareholder.

“It was important to continue the work started by my father, founder of Beaux-Freres, by creating Domaine Roy & fils in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, which is recognized as one of the most prestigious areas in the world in the production of Pinot Noir” – so Marc-André Roy, co-founder and President of Domaine Roy & fils, who continues – “We are honored and thrilled to welcome the Frescobaldi family as new owners of Domaine Roy & fils . Marquises Frescobaldi

Frescobaldi embodies the essence of Tuscany since 1300, its extraordinary vocation for viticulture and the diversity of its territories.

The uniqueness of Frescobaldi arises precisely from the representation of this diversity by its estates and wines that express a kaleidoscope of aromas and sensations.

Behind every Frescobaldi wine you can feel the heart of the people, agronomists and oenologists who live the vineyard and the terroir to grasp every detail. Their art requires the strict rule of respect. Respect for our tradition, which also guides us when we choose innovative solutions. Respect for Tuscany, which we consider a living land, to be cultivated in balance and harmony. Respect for every single terroir, which thanks to a unique combination of soils, altitudes and microclimates, gives us wines with their own unique personality.

The nine Marchesi Frescobaldi estates are: Castello Pomino (Pomino), Castello Nipozzano (Nipozzano), Tenuta Perano (Gaiole in Chianti), Tenuta Castiglioni (Montespertoli), Tenuta CastelGiocondo (Montalcino), Tenuta Ammiraglia (Magliano in Toscana), Remole (Sieci), Tenuta Calimaia (Cervognano) and Gorgona . Located in areas of Tuscany particularly suited to the production of fine wines (DOC, DOCG and IGT), the estates differ in terrain, environment and history. To these must be added the Bolgheri estates Ornellaia and Masseto , Tenuta Luce in Montalcino and Attems in the Collio. The combination of these elements gives each Frescobaldi wine a unique and distinctive character. Each estate is managed as a single entity, with its own managers: for viticulture, vinification and ageing.
