Here, even in the mid nineteenth century, the cultivation of the best vines for the production of Pinot Noir and other noble grape varieties, such as Riesling, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, began.
Thanks to the extreme productivity of the soil of the moraine hill on which the castle is situated, the microclimate suited to grape growing and a highly effficace cultivation thanks to the Guyot system, the vineyards of the Rametz Castle are among the most valuable in the area of Merano.
