In a time long gone, when dwarfs and giants still roamed the mountains and forests of the Dolomites, every evening at sunset, the giants were accustomed to gathering all around the "Sassegg" to be served at their dinner table by dwarfs, always nimble and diligent. The little gnomes lovingly procured the flour needed to bake and cook, picking up the dry crumbly rock that stood nearby.

This limestone white stone was so fragile that pulverized as soon as the dwarves placed bags of jute in their store.

A pantry that gnomes committed themselves to keep always full and well–stored, in order to prepare, day after day, any dish or recipe they were requested: sweet or salty, spicy or light, already known or still unknown.

The dwarves were always experimenting with new delicacies, and with their creations surpassed themselves constantly.

The giants waited and savored everything that was served to them, but as they did not like to sit too long with dry mouths, occasionally squeezed with all their strength the porous rock, making fresh crystal clear water pour out.

And so it was that the inhabitants of the areas around the "Sassegg" never missed any food or drink, and since then nothing changed, today it is the same!
