ITALIAN WINERIES
Cantina Tollo: 18 million bottles, new labels to tell the story of Abruzzo. The historic Abruzzo cooperative revitalizes its connection to the region with two new wines made from native grapes. Over 625 members and 2,500 hectares cultivated between the hills and the Maiella.
Kristian Keber presents "Trifolium," the winery between earth and sky. In Cormons, on the border with Slovenia, the new winery of Kristian Keber, heir to a long winemaking dynasty, is taking shape. Trifolium is a tribute to tradition, with an eye to the future.
Valtidone Winery Awarded by Decanter Three awards for the Borgonovo cooperative: silver for the “Perlage Brut”, bronze for the “50 Vendemmie”, and a special mention for the “Bollo Rosso Gutturnio Riserva”.
Sara Vezza Winery: Five Generations of Sustainable Winemaking. The Saffirio-Vezza family tradition continues in Monforte d'Alba. Sara leads the winery with passion and respect for the land, producing wines of recognized quality.
Vistorta: one of Italy's best Merlots between Friuli and Veneto Since 1989, Vistorta has established itself as a point of reference for Italian Merlot, the fruit of an agronomic vision begun in 1872 and refined with Bordeaux influences.
San Michele Appiano: “Summer Dreams” between wine and starred cuisine. Sauvignon Sanct Valentin pairs with the gourmet plant-based cuisine of chef Reimund Brunner, in a project that celebrates excellence and the local area.
ITALIAN WINE AND ITALIAN OENOLOGY
Meloni: "We need a strategy to protect Italian wine." The Prime Minister announced at Palazzo Chigi the government's commitment to opposing US tariffs and European anti-alcohol policies: "Wine is an irreplaceable and distinctive product."
Wine under attack: US tariffs of up to 20% on the price. Cristiano Fini (CIA): "Our SMEs are being penalized; a strong and coordinated response is needed." The US is Italy's largest export market (€1.9 billion in 2024).
Wine industry leaders call on the government: "Stop planting and increase promotion." From Palazzo Chigi, companies in the sector are calling for a communications campaign, a plant freeze, and measures to combat excessive tariffs.
Scordamaglia: "We need action against the criminalization of wine." The president of Filiera Italia urges the government to intervene on two fronts: overproduction and ideological campaigns against consumption.
Wineries targeted by thieves: 30 burglaries in the heart of the DOCG . Thefts are increasing in the most prestigious wine-producing areas. Farms are becoming easy targets: "We need more security," producers demand.
A Sicilian wine stars in “And Just Like That” Alta Mora Etna Bianco makes its appearance in the “Sex and The City” sequel series, confirming the allure of Italian wine in the American lifestyle.
INTERNATIONAL
2025 harvest in Spain: estimated harvest between 37.5 and 38 million hectoliters. Estimates from the Agro-alimentary Cooperatives confirm a positive year despite climate challenges. Spain remains the world's third-largest producer.
Michel Chasseuil: the collector with 50,000 bottles under his roof. A documentary tells the incredible story of the man who built the largest private collection of fine wines in the world, in the heart of rural France.
WINE EVENTS
“Calici sotto le Stelle” in Carini and Montelepre from August 9th to 11th. The most evocative food and wine event of the Sicilian summer returns: tastings, guided tours, and starry atmospheres within the ancient walls of castles and towers.
ViniMilo 2025: 45th edition of Etna, culture, and innovation. From August 29th to September 14th in Milo, two weekends dedicated to Etna wines will include tastings, masterclasses, and a graphic restyling of the historic event.
Concerts in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Winery: classical music among the vines starting August 7th. The second part of the "Vini Gusti in Musica" festival in Friuli Venezia Giulia. It begins in Bertiolo with the New Era Quartet: free admission to all concerts.
"Città del Vino" Competition: 4 Gold Medals for the Losi family of Ganaghello. The Piacenza-based winery received a major award in Siena for the quality of its wines. The municipality also awarded a plaque of recognition.
Franciacorta: 2025 harvest begins, positive outlook. The Consortium predicts a promising harvest thanks to the diverse soils and climates. Exports of the famous Lombardy classic method are also growing.
