Italian wine looks to Hanoi New trade tensions and the evolution of global consumption are pushing Italian producers to look with interest to Vietnam. Hanoi is emerging as a promising new outlet for Made in Italy wine exports.
USA: Wine imports grow in the first 3 months of 2025 (pre-duties) While consumption is falling according to SipSource and Nielsen IQ, Istat and Oive data indicate growing exports to the USA. France leads, Italy lags behind. A contradictory and turbulent market.
US duties: alarm from Italian cooperatives Luca Rigotti (Fedagripesca-Confcooperative) warns: "If the duties were confirmed, losses for Italy could reach 190 million euros". Strong diplomatic action is called for.
Wine and pricing policy in restaurants Gian Marco Centinaio denounces: "Bottles cost four times as much. We need a fairer pricing policy to support conscious consumption."
Export 2024: historical record for Italian wine Minister Francesco Lollobrigida confirms: "8 billion euros of exports in 2024, with a growth of 5.5%. The USA remains the first market."
Egypt: 5,000-year-old wine amphorae Discovered in Abydos, in the tomb of Queen Meret-Neith. Wine was already used for ceremonies and as a currency of exchange. An archaeological treasure that also speaks of wine culture.

Grenaches du Monde: Sardinia triumphs At the 13th edition of the competition in Cariñena (Spain), Sardinia obtains 32 medals out of 40 total for Italy. Three Double Golds in Mamoiada and Tresnuraghes.
