Italian Wineries

Recioto della Valpolicella becomes a Slow Food Presidium. Seven Veronese wineries are relaunching Recioto, a quintessential Valpolicella wine mentioned by Pliny the Elder. The Slow Food Presidium was created to save a product that is steadily declining, currently accounting for just 0.6% of the denomination's total production.

Antonio Spurio is the new director of the Cantina di Pitigliano. An experienced agronomist, Spurio will lead the historic Maremma cooperative into a new phase of development and innovation, with a focus on international markets.

Paternoster, a century of Vulture The Lucanian winery celebrates 100 years of history with the restoration of the ancient underground caves of Barone Rotondo, now transformed into the Aglianico Caveau.

The Queen's Birthday and the Nals Margreid Winery. In Margreid (Bolzano), the century-old "Regina" vine from 1601, vinified exclusively by GRASPO, is being celebrated. This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the Nals Margreid Winery.

Orvieto bids farewell to Luigi Barberani. Luigi Barberani, founder of the eponymous winery and a pioneer of Umbrian wine, has passed away. With him, one of the great exponents of noble rot and modern Orvieto has passed away.
