Vi.VO Cantine: prodigious growth (41.6%), thanks to an increase in surface area, storage capacity and market development

The Vi.VO Cantine Group confirms itself among the protagonists of the Italian wine sector, obtaining an important third place in the ranking of companies with the greatest increases in turnover in 2022, drawn up by the journalist Anna Di Martino for "L'Economia", the weekly magazine of the Corriere della Sera. The ranking highlights the company's notable revenue growth during 2022, 41.6% compared to the previous year.

The President of Vi.VO Cantine, Prof. Corrado Giacomini, underlines that the success derives from a combination of thoughtful but far-sighted strategies, significant investments and a constant commitment towards the members: "Success, also highlighted by the ranking published in the Corriere della Sera drawn up by Dr. Di Martino, derives from the fact that the company carries out its function in the pre-eminent interest of the contributing members".

These goals were achieved through two strategic directions . One of the keys to this growth was the expansion of the vineyard area , which went from 5,000 hectares in 2019 to 6,300 hectares in 2022, a further confirmation of the trust that members place in the cooperative.

Furthermore, the company has invested over 10 million euros in two years for equipment, infrastructure and storage facilities. These investments led to an increase in storage capacity from 593,000 hectoliters in 2018 to 983,000 hectoliters in 2022.

"These choices have allowed us to significantly increase the volume of contributions. They were the levers thanks to which there was a clear increase in turnover", testifies President Giacomini.

The management of the cooperative, with a mutuality coefficient of 98%, is concentrated in the exclusive interest of the members, aiming at the objective of ensuring them liquidity that is certain in amount and constant over time, as highlighted by Giacomini : "I want to underline that in 2022 we have poured more than 100 million euros into the area, it is clear that our cooperative plays an important role in the economy of the community of which it is part."

The challenge of inflation, fluctuations in energy prices and increases in raw materials has been addressed through economies of scale and investments in modern technologies, including the digitalisation of production processes. The Vi.VO Cantine Group has demonstrated that innovation can be a fundamental ally in managing economic challenges.

“The size the cooperative has reached has given us the opportunity to face economic challenges with greater flexibility. Investments in 4.0 technologies have allowed us to optimize production costs , demonstrating that innovation is crucial for sustainable success." states the President.

The participation of cooperative companies in exports is lower (34%) than that of non-cooperative companies, because many are not interested in bottling both for the necessary investments and because they prefer to sell the mass produced to industry. The Vi.VO Cantine Group allocates 25% of its production to bottling through its subsidiary Bosco Viticultori Srl , which exports almost all of the bottles produced, and in recent years Vi.VO has exported another 20% of its bulk production destined for the bottling plants of large-scale foreign distribution. The markets to which Vi.VO exports are not only European and the American market, but Vi.VO Cantine's wine reaches as far as New Zealand.

The success of the Vi.VO Cantine Group is a tangible example of how cooperation, innovation and constant commitment to members can lead to excellent results.
