The first edition of "Trophy for the Best Sommelier of Vermentino" was won by Andrea Balleri. The competition organized by the Italian Sommelier Liguria Association in collaboration with the Italian Sommelier Association and the Enoteca Regionale della Liguria took place in Castelnuovo Magra (SP) and was attended by great Italian sommelier.
A questionnaire on the Vermentino grape variety and sensory analysis to be drawn on two wines made identify the three finalists: Andrea Balleri, Sergio Garreffa and Jacopo Tonelli.
The tasting and sensory analysis of three wines based on Vermentino, the hospitality of some customers, the service of a wine at the table, the correction of a wine list and a communication test have determined the winner, Andrea Balleri, already "Best Sommelier of Tuscany " in 2009, and ranked fourth in the WSA international competition last April.
