Tomorrow the BtB Toscano workshop will start Buywine

Toscana Promotion kicks off tomorrow at Buy Wine , an international event where 200 international buyers will meet 178 Tuscan producers for the first launch appointment for the foreign market of Tuscany's wine.


The Tuscany of wine will feature: 62 labels with 3 glasses from Gambero Rosso 2012; 45 wines with 5 bottles of Vini d'Italia 2012 (L'Espresso) while the AIS 2012 Italian Wines Guide delivered 88 times its 5 bunches to Tuscan enology.

It will be an important international workshop that will launch previews of: Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Nobile di Montepulciano.

The first nine months of 2011 indicate that exports were already at a swollen record for exports of quality Tuscan wines (vqprd) with + 13.5% over the same period of 2010.

The councilor for agriculture comments as follows: «The year that has just ended has brought the exports of our wines back to pre-crisis levels (...). This is an important result, obtained thanks to the commitment of our producers who, celebrated in all the main sector guides, never stop working to keep the quality of our wines high. This second edition of Buy Wine could not open under better auspices ».

«With the Buy Wine our 2012 season is inaugurated for the international promotion of Tuscan wine for which we will invest, during the year, 1.6 million euros. - explains Stefano Giovannelli, director of Toscana Promozione - Now in its second edition, this event has grown in quality. From 16 to 17 in Florence there will be 200 international buyers from 31 different countries. Among them, 100 importers of important large-scale distribution such as the Chinese City Super or the Canadian B&W. The link with the previews that will be held in the area next week also gives a further added value to this workshop. Our goal is to create a unique event dedicated to wine and distributed throughout the region to enhance the Tuscany brand with international decision makers and opinion leaders ».

After the two days of trading, the 200 buyers present at Buy Wine 2012 will participate in the various previews:

• Vino Nobile di Montepulciano (February 18),
• Vernaccia di San Gimignano (February 19)
• Chianti Classico (February 20).

In addition, the journalists of the Federation Internationale des Journalistes et Ecrivains des Vins et Spiritueux will visit the production areas of the Super Tuscans in Suvereto and Bolgheri.
