The award ceremony will take place in the context of the 25th edition of the South Tyrolean Pinot Noir Days staged in Enga and Montagna in South Tyrol from 19 to 22 May.

This edition number 25 of the South Tyrolean Pinot Noir Days dedicated to the 2020 vintage was promised to be full of novelties and so it was. On Friday 19 May, in the splendid setting of the Castello di Enn a Montagna, the first 3 wines that have obtained the highest score will in fact be awarded, as well as, for the first time, also the individual winners of the wine-growing areas, the result of a careful selection held in mid-April and created for the first time, not only by oenologists and journalists , but also by sommeliers from all over Italy. Some of the excellences of South Tyrolean wine production rise to the top of the podium in the general classification : the Pinot Nero Riserva "Trattmann" of the Cantina Girlan, the Pinot Nero "Ludwig" of Elena Walch and the Pinot Nero Riserva "Puntay" of Erste Neue. Of great interest is the classification by wine area introduced this year for the first time precisely to enhance and strongly exalt the national character that animates the Competition. For Friuli Venezia-Giulia the Pinot Nero „Casanova“ of Castello di Spessa was awarded, for Valle d'Aosta the Pinot Nero „Pierre“ of Cave Gargantua , for Trentino the Pinot Nero Riserva of the Agricultural Company Sandri Arcangelo , for Piedmont the Pinot Noir "San Germano" by Marchesi Alfieri and finally for Lombardy the Pinot Noir "Noir" by Tenuta Mazzolino . “ We are enthusiastic about this renewed version of the National Competition - explains Ines Giovanett , president of the organizing committee - as it reflects our desire to make this event, year after year, not only a real occasion to celebrate, get to know and explore the characteristics of this such a unique vine but also to make this appointment a representative window of national production and to enhance as much as possible the different traditions and production styles of Pinot Noir in Italy ". “ A heartfelt thanks - says Marc Pfitscher, Vice-President of the Organizing Committee of the Pinot Noir Days in charge of the Competition - goes to all the producers who joined the event with great enthusiasm this year, moved by the desire to stage the very high quality of their wine productions .” The prize-giving party of the Competition will be the prelude to the beginning of the 25th edition of the Pinot Noir Days which from 19 to 22 May will enliven the two picturesque wine-growing villages of Egna and Montagna, considered strongholds of Pinot Noir in South Tyrol. During the four days, guests will be able to take part in a sophisticated technical tasting, by reservation, during which the national production of this precious vine will be compared, participate in a masterclass dedicated to Pinot Noir of Burgundy or sign up for the Pinot Noir excursion Experience, a walk suitable for adults and children that will lead visitors to discover the enchanting landscapes of Mazzon and Egna.
