Pantelleria is running with decision towards UNESCO, where for the first time the candidacy of an agricultural practice was presented: the cultivation of the "vite ad alberello" (head–trained bush vine) that, in the hollows and among the stone walls, allows the grapes of Zibibbo to grow despite the wind, that is constant in this plot of land between Europe and Africa.
«After four years, we are now in the final stage of the application path» the Legal Adviser of the Ministers of Agriculture and Environment Pier Luigi Petrillo said, on the occasion of Passitaly. «If the Unesco enrolls Pantelleria – Petrillo – Zibibbo of Pantelleria will become a cultural and tourist attraction. Until now, in effect, no country has ever managed to enroll in a List an agricultural practice».
