The Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Consortium's Members' Meeting elected a new Board of Directors, which will lead the consortium's operations in the coming years.

Its members include: Davide Ancillotti (Cantine Vivito), Andrea Arrigoni (Pietraserena), Manrico Biagini (Signano), Lisanna Boschini (Collemucioli), Andrea Ciappi (Casa alle Vacche), Massimo Daldin (Mormoraia), Michael Falchini (Casale Falchini), Angelica Fenzi (Fattoria San Donato) , Alessio Gragnoli (Teruzzi), Orlando Lucii (Casa Lucii), Mario Piccini (Tenute Piccini), Samantha Ricci (La Roccaia), Alessandro Zanette (Melini) . The new Board of Directors represents the various production sectors of the area in a balanced way and is distinguished by the presence of four young people under 40 , confirming the Consortium's desire to encourage generational turnover and enhance new energy and skills within the Denomination. Furthermore, during its first meeting, the Board confirmed Manrico Biagini as President of the Consortium. Biagini has already served as Vice President since 2019, also assuming the role of pro tempore President last June, taking over from Irina Strozzi until the end of her previous term. The Biagini family has been part of the Consortium since its founding, and Manrico Biagini has been a director for over thirty years, contributing with continuity, experience, and passion to the promotion of Vernaccia di San Gimignano , the first Italian wine to obtain the Controlled Designation of Origin in 1966. "I thank the Directors for their trust in me." I agree by electing myself President of the Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Consortium. For me, who have always considered myself a Man of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, this position is an honor, but also a great responsibility. I know I can count on a young, strong team united by a love for this denomination and an awareness of its cultural, historical, and oenological value. My commitment will be to represent all producers, large and small, with balance and a listening ear, promoting Vernaccia di San Gimignano worldwide but also protecting its authenticity; because its strength comes right here, among these hills, with its people, in the profound bond with San Gimignano.” The Vice Presidents are: Lisanna Boschini, Andrea Ciappi, and Michael Falchini. The new Board is ready to take up the mantle and face the challenges ahead. 2026 will be a year of great significance for the Consortium, which will celebrate the 750th anniversary of the Denomination and the 60th anniversary of DOC recognition : a double anniversary that testifies to the longevity, tradition, and continued vitality of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, a symbol of Italian winemaking culture and the profound connection between wine, territory, and identity.
