The Pantelleria Bush Vine Road has been created

  • 28/12/2015

A year after the inclusion of the bush vine in the UNESCO World Heritage list, the Municipality of Pantelleria relaunches initiatives that are result of a strategic mix of landscape, agriculture, wellness and energy, to attract resources, tourism, innovation and to safeguard the cultural identity of a rural system that is unique in the Mediterranean area.

On this track the Pallenteria Bush Vine Road has been created, a circuit of 37 km that takes tourists and visitors into the complexity of the productive context revealing the soil–climate–exposure interaction, breeding techniques and cultural practices involved in the management of the bush vine.

This route is hooked to two cycle–pedestrian rings.

The first, characterized by a privileged view of the Lake of Venere and the Montagna Grande.

The second runs in the south area of the island, continues to the Perimeter road in the zone of Dietro Isola. Much information is available online on an interactive digital platform in which the itinerary is visible in real time. On your phone you can view historical photos that portray the same landscape in the 60s, by offering a comparison to 50 years of distance.

Among the subjects involved there are many companies working to produce with quality and in respect for the environment, such as Dietro L’Isola, Salvatore Murana, Coste Ghirlanda, Donnafugata, Marco De Bartoli Bukkuram and Azienda Agricola Emanuela Bonomo in addition to other local companies including the Capers’ Cooperative of Pantelleria and olive growers.
