The Suavia winery, an oenological excellence located in the Classic area of the Soave denomination which in the last year has given life to three unique crus starting from three Additional Geographical Units (UGA) representative of the Soave Classico terroir, sums up the 2023 harvest by evaluating it in positive manner, despite the difficult conditions due to the climatic anomalies that characterized this year throughout the Peninsula.

Soave, 31 October 2023 – The Suavia winery , an oenological excellence located in the Classic area of the Soave denomination which in the last year has given life to three unique crus starting from three Additional Geographical Units (UGA) representative of the Soave Classico terroir, draws sums of the 2023 harvest evaluating it positively, despite the difficult conditions due to the climatic anomalies that characterized this vintage throughout the Peninsula. “ It was a difficult year to manage ,” explains Alessandra Tessari , who with her sisters Meri and Valentina carries on the legacy of her father Giovanni, running the family business. “ Late June and July were decidedly anomalous months, cool and rainy, with unstable weather which forced us to continuously check the forecast to avoid surprises. This uncertain climate led to the proliferation of powdery mildew and downy mildew and, consequently, it was necessary to implement many treatments to obtain the best from a phytosanitary point of view ”, continues Alessandra. “ The situation then stabilized with the hot climate of August and September, which allowed us to recover the slow ripening phase in July, a real panacea! ”, he concludes. Suavia has the privilege and fortune of being located in the highest point of the Classic area of the Soave denomination, at an altitude of 296 meters above sea level and this has played an important role in a challenging situation like that of the 2023 vintage. “Being on the hills certainly has its advantages,” confirms Alessandra, “The ventilation and draining soil protected us from the pathogenic fungi that instead affected the surrounding areas. We can therefore say that we had no production differences compared to other years". “ Overall we can be satisfied with the result obtained for the 2023 vintage. The grapes were healthy, thanks to the timely intervention which allowed us to control the phytosanitary situation. The tastings then revealed a good product, in some cases with a certain complexity. Some grapes, particularly affected by the cold and rain, have benefited from the heat of the last period by developing botrytis, a noble rot that has added aromatic complexity to the overall picture. So the negative aspects have been transformed into opportunities from an oenological point of view ,” concludes Alessandra. For Suavia, the 2023 vintage also represents the culmination of the ambitious project featuring the " I places " line: three crus born from three Additional Geographical Units (UGA) representative of the Soave Classico terroir. The three labels, Castellaro , Fittà and Tremenalto , represent three legendary places with unique characters. These vineyards, steeped in history and volcanic geology, produce extraordinary wines. The secret lies in their geological composition and the undisturbed evolution of the land.
