South Tyrol Wines: 2013 positive

  • 28/03/2014

2013 ended positively for the wineries of South Tyrol. The domestic market has consolidated itself: 50% of the wine produced in South Tyrol, also thanks to its great tourist vocation, is absorbed only by the province of Bolzano, almost 20% is destined to the rest of Italy, followed, to decrease, by Germany, the United States, Switzerland, Austria.

“The undisputed quality and good value for money of our wines have been the winning soul of South Tyrol for the latest three decades, we have not let ourselves be captivated by the successes achieved and this has paid us off” Anton Zublasing, President of the Wine Consortium, says. “Now it is the time to deal with more boldness even with the foreign market, we do not overlook some of our traditional partners but we are planning for the next three decates focused actions that we hope will be stepped up in countries such as Japan and Russia, which show signs of great interest and secure growth. We are sure for example that the 1% today represented by Russia will grow significantly in a short time”.

An important test for the wines of South Tyrol will be Vinitaly 2014. 77 are the South Tyrolean producers who will present on this occasion new vintages and new labels.

At the center of the large area of South Tyrol, at the information area, every day themed degustations with different wine types and labels will be organized:

– on Sunday and Tuesday the wines of the “Pinot Family”, white, gray and red, as well as the bubbles of the mountain, will be presented in a fascinating sensory journey

– on Monday and Wednesday it will be the turn of “Aromatic white wines and native Red wines”, in a rich parade that goes from Gewürztraminer to Lagrein.
