  • 18/01/2024

An educational tour of the production sites and a special gift for the important guest

In recent days, Piacere Modena met the CEO of London's Borough Market, as well as a member of Slow Food International, Shane Holland. A project, the one born with the London reality, started thanks to a collaboration with chef Theo Randall - who will be brand Ambassador for Piacere Modena in London - celebrated at the InterContinental Hotel in the British capital, which last November 7 he prepared with the products of the Modena PDO and PGI Protection Consortiums, members of Piacere Modena, a tasting dinner to which the most influential food bloggers and food and lifestyle journalists were invited.

“Shane Holland's visit to Modena – commented the President of Piacere Modena Enrico Corsini – is an excellent example of the importance of creating and consolidating relationships, especially at an international level. The prestigious guest was accompanied by Enrico Messora, at whose London shop a corner with the DOP and IGP products of Piacere Modena is set up until next May, with the aim of giving continuity to the original project. The CEO of the Borough Market in London was fascinated by Modena's products and during his stay he allowed us to lead him to discover their secrets by visiting the most representative places of our history and the places of production of our gastronomic excellences”.

During Holland's stay in Modena, two days were dedicated to a personalized educational tour which led him to discover step by step the UNESCO site with the Duomo and the Ghirlandina and Piazza Grande and then stopping among the scents and flavors of the Albinelli Market . It was the visit to the area that thrilled the guests who were able to admire breathtaking landscapes on the hills where the wines are grown to produce the Modena Lambruscos and the Balsamic Vinegars of Modena PGI and Traditional PDO, the orchards where the Vignola cherries are grown which they admired the centuries-old fortress and the thousand-year-old Abbey of Nonantola and the hills where the cows are raised for the prized Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Modena DOP.

The journey through the province of Modena and its flavors could not end without a visit to the producers who every day tell the story of their experiences and the territory by letting their products speak for themselves. The visits were held to discover a vinegar factory where the production of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PGI and Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PDO was shown, two Italian excellences, authentic ambassadors of Made in Italy, of two wineries that produce Lambrusco DOC the most widespread wine in the world, to a Parmigiano Reggiano DOP dairy one of the oldest cheeses produced in Italy and a producer of Prosciutto di Modena DOP, a niche production with great organoleptic qualities.

The occasion was particularly important for the Presidents of the Consortia belonging to Piacere Modena, who had the opportunity to meet Holland personally with the hope of being able to create profitable synergies together. The project will end in June 2024 and will conclude with the presentation during a dinner of the DOP and IGP products represented by Piacere Modena.

The visit of the CEO of the Borough Market ended with the delivery by the Municipality of Modena of the Mayor's Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PDO kept in the Municipal Vinegar Factory which is located right in the attic of the Modena Municipality Building on the UNESCO site of Duomo Ghirlandina and Piazza Grande.
