Sciacchetrà, the famous Cinque Terre raisin wine produced with the best bunches of Bosco, Albarola and Vermentino grapes saw a big drop in 2013 production. The data of the State Forestry Corps of the Cinque Terre National Park indicate that the quantity of grapes left to dry is significantly lower than that of the previous year due to the bad weather that affected the harvest.
Last year there were 35,505 kilograms of grapes left to dry, this year they are only 21,578 kilograms. This shortage has prompted fourteen wineries in the Cinque Terre to renounce the annual production of Sciacchetrà Dop in favor of white wine.
