Those are very tense days, after the violent attack on the seat of the Charlie Hebdo magazine. In these difficult times we want to remember with utmost respect the director of Charlie Hebdo Charbonnier and the cartoonists Wolinski, Cabu and Tignous, who had offered their brilliant pen also to the world of wine.
Specifically, Wolinski had created labels for the Le Mas Bernard wine, produced by Adrien Maeght, gallerist and vinegrower, who has always trusted in well–known artists, cartoonists and humorists to give an original touch to his bottles.
In his label Wolinski had drawn a woman in topless with vines and branches instead of hair and a bottle close to her chest. "Humour & Vigne", the festival of satire and French wine, had seen the participation of a caricature of Nicolas Sarkozy on the bottle by Jean Cabut, alias Cabu.
Bernard Verlhac, alias Tignous, in the same way, had lent his pen to the Saint Emilion and the Chateau Renaissance of Descrambe and the Ficelle of Saint Pourcain (which annually entrusts its label to a humorist cartoonist). And the director Charbonnier had created for the label of Saint Emilion 2000 the caricature of an apparently tipsy policeman with his red nose with the caption: "Here is the partner of my professional spins".
