Italian wine does not feel the crisis ... the record export balance classifies wine as the most important item in the Italian agricultural sector, according to the Istat data read by Coldiretti.
2011 saw a real boom in sales of wine abroad with an increase of 13% compared to 2010. Exports reached the share of 4 billion euros.
In just a few years, exports have almost doubled, reaching 40% in 2011.
10 million bottles go abroad, which corresponds to 28% of the total production
"Just under a quarter of the foreign turnover was obtained in the United States, with a record increase in value of 16% in 2011. The real surprise, however, comes from the Asian countries, starting with China where wine exports are practically doubled (+ 80%) while Russia continues to grow (+ 16%). "
Over half of the turnover comes from abroad and is made in the countries of the European Union, with Germany (+ 10%) in the lead among the EU countries that appreciate Made in Italy wine followed by Great Britain (+ 10%) ".
