Rame 2021: the wine of tradition in Collavini's interpretation

The company from Corno di Rosazzo presents the 2021 vintage of the blend with vinification in contact with the skins. Copper shades ideal for summer

Collavini presents the 2021 vintage of Rame , a wine born from Pinot and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso grapes that wants to interpret the Friulian tradition of coppery white in an international key . This distinctive approach has always characterized the philosophy of the historic winery of Corno di Rosazzo (Udine) which aims to combine the culture of the area with a more cosmopolitan spirit. Since the times of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, vinification in contact with the skins has been documented, a process which allowed the wine to obtain a characteristic coppery colour . A technique representative of a specific area, the Triveneto, with a fundamental production center in the Friuli region. An interpretation witness of the time which, with the success of the white vinification of the variety, was in danger of disappearing and which through the rediscovery operation carried out by local wineries, such as Collavini, has seen its rebirth. “ Rame represents our homage to the oenological traditions of Friuli – explains Luigi Collavini, owner of the company together with his brother Giovanni and father Manlio -. It all started with the 2020 vintage, which took on the role of forerunner in recounting three intense years, full of trials and experiments, which led us to find what we believe to be the perfect balance for our first rosé. This wine comes from the same philosophy as its older brothers, MoRe and BiancoCollavini , and follows the path they traced in uniting a native variety with an international grape. Today with Rame 2021 we continue to bring the customs of the area into the glass , combined with the finesse and elegance that have accompanied our vision in the wine world from the very beginning". After a careful selection during the September harvest, Rame continues its evolution with the maceration of the Pinot on the skins in contact with the must , an essential process to give the characteristic color that recalls the nuances of the metal from which the wine takes its name. The coppery nuances are also enhanced by a touch of Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso , whose grapes are harvested in crates to avoid the slightest mashing, then destemmed and left to macerate briefly before soft pressing. The subsequent fermentation takes place in steel at a controlled temperature, so as to preserve the typical characteristics of the two vines and give a pleasant freshness to the wine. Copper is a harmonious and balanced sip, with an intense citrus scent and delicate mineral hints, which closes with a persistent aromatic note, ideal both at the table and as an aperitif. Copper Igt Venezia Giulia 2021 is available in the Collavini online shop and in selected wine shops starting from 12.70 euros.
