Now it is law: obligation to provide a contribution to the Wine Consortia

  • 06/08/2012

The so-called "Development" decree was definitively approved by the Senate and thus officially became law.

In the Decree there is a provision on the payment of expenses incurred by the protection consortia with erga omnes assignment, and the penalties provided for those who do not comply with the contribution.

The envisaged sanction is, for now, administrative and in the future will also imply the sanction of suspension of the right to claim the Doc or Igt until the cause that gave rise to the suspension is removed.

In essence, this decree extends the penalties applicable to companies that do not pay the contribution for the expenses related to promotion, protection, supervision to consortia with erga omnes assignment.

Furthermore, the provision of the Development decree, contained in article 59, will then extend the suspension to the so-called "start-up contribution" which can be requested by consortia from new users of a PDO-PGI.
