The Consortium for the protection and the enhancement of Ovada DOCG has been formed. The new Consortium gathers 20 companies and its headquarter is in Ovada: the Ovada is one of the only two denominations recognized DOCG produced from the Dolcetto grapes. "This area of High Monferrato Ovadese has always been historically recognized - Danielli, the new president of the Ovada DOCG Consortium, says - as the most suitable area for the cultivation of Dolcetto, a typically Piedmontese native vine. This is witnessed by a famous passage by the great botanist Gallesio of two hundred years ago, when the Dolcetto vinegrapes of Ovada and its surroundings were the most appreciated, and after all in the past this variety was known directly as 'Ovadese Grape' ".
The purpose of the Ovada DOCG Consortium: "We want to affirm the Ovada as the diamond point of the whole territory, and confront at the same level with the great red wines of Piedmont that nowadays are the best known - Giuseppe Ravera says, vice of Danielli in the newly installed board of directors, and that includes in total nine members - because we know we have the chance: the work in this direction will be certainly challenging and not easy, but we are very determined".
