Nero d'Avola DOC Sicilia travels around the world to then identify in its territory of origin an ideal combination to propose on Valentine's Day, the one with Sicilian chocolate, first of all Modica chocolate. Whether it's a moment for lovers, with the family, a cuddle with friends or to dedicate to yourself, pairing a glass of Nero D'Avola with chocolate is undoubtedly an exceptional pleasure for the palate.
The most important red grape variety in Sicily, with more than 43 million DOC Sicilia certified bottles in 2022 , confirms the positive trend underway since 2017, when there were just over 7 million bottles.
Ambassador of the island with an impetuous and attractive character, but which at the same time lets itself be tamed: the red DOC Sicilia par excellence is plastic in its manifestations, it is renewed according to the needs of the consumer. "Nero d'Avola is a vine that manages to surprise thanks to its innate ability to marry perfectly with different and even unexpected flavors - underlines Antonio Rallo, president of the Consorzio di Tutela Vini DOC Sicilia - but this is precisely its stylistic hallmark , the key to its success: versatility".
In the case of the proposed combination, the aromatic notes of Nero D'Avola combined with cocoa enhance its taste and the permanence of its aromatic perception.
Consortium for the protection of DOC Sicily wines
The Consortium for the protection of DOC Sicilia wines (siciliadoc.wine) came to life in 2012, with the aim of representing the wine of the Sicilian territory and promoting the DOC Sicilia denomination, with actions aimed at increasing the visibility of a symbolic brand of Made in Italy and to the protection and supervision in defense of consumers and producers.
Almost 8,000 winegrowers and about 500 bottlers are promoters of the Controlled Designation of Origin, a recognition useful to represent them but also to enhance and safeguard the island's wine production. Sicily is the largest organic wine area in Italy: it represents 30% of the national surface and with its over 42 thousand hectares it also holds the record among the regions that practice sustainable viticulture, subject to organic or integrated production regulations.
