7,000 hectoliters of wines belonging to the designations of origin Morellino di Scansano D.O.C.G., Maremma Toscana D.O.C. and to the geographical indication Toscana, were seized by the Inspectorate, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Carabinieri.
«We applaud the joint action of Icqrf, Nas and the Carabinieri, since, as always, the Consortium of Morellino di Scansano is pursuing the primary objective of ensuring the consumer the exact provenance of Morellino and the compliance with strict production specifications, according to the Decree of the Ministry of Agricultural Policies of 2006».
These are the words of Giuseppe Mantellassi, president of the Consortium for the protection of Morellino di Scansano,
«The Consortium – the president said – awaits further developments of investigation and the indication of the responsible ones for assessing the possibility of recourse to legal action to safeguard the image of the designation, its products and their work».
