Morellino di Scansano DOCG further improves its positioning

With a renewed formula, open to the general public for the first time, the success of Rosso Morellino is confirmed, the event dedicated to Morellino di Scansano which involved over a thousand professionals and enthusiasts on 14 and 15 May. The opening day took place at the Corrado Baccarini military airport in Grosseto, which was the setting for the two moments that characterized the first part of the event: the large open-air tasting counter, where winelovers thanks to the participation of 40 producers had the opportunity to discover the organoleptic peculiarities of the Vintage and Riserva wines for tasting, and the inaugural concert of the 2023 tour by Joe Bastianich & La Terza Classe. The popular showman, fresh from winning the tenth edition of Beijing Express, thus wanted to pay homage to his passion for this area, which sees him engaged with his family in a production project right within the territory of the historic Maremma denomination.

The moment dedicated to the operators of the sector took place the following day, as usual, at the former Elementary Schools of Scansano, where the Walk Around Tasting and the two in-depth Masterclasses, conducted by Andrea Gori and Leonardo Romanelli, took place.

The new format of Rosso Morellino, which took place in recent days, is part of the strategy planned in recent years by the Consortium, which takes the dialogue with all its enthusiasts to a new level of depth. “Morellino di Scansano is unique for its level of notoriety, its expressiveness and the awareness it has achieved among consumers. By now we can say with certainty that it is clear to everyone what is meant by this wine”. These are some of the considerations that emerged during the Masterclass included in the program of the most prestigious event of the denomination, which confirmed how, thanks to its characteristics of freshness, pleasantness and finesse, Morellino di Scansano is increasingly appreciated in the various commercial channels by a 'wide and growing audience of enthusiasts.

“With the decision to extend the event over two days, we have fostered even more dialogue between producers, insiders and the public of wine lovers. It was a bet won, which reaffirms the success of our denomination - comments Alessio Durazzi , director of the Consortium - Strengthened by these results, we continue with the work to make Morellino di Scansano more and more known and deepen the characteristics of the denomination that represent the uniqueness of our wines and our territory”.

Satisfaction also from the president Bernardo Guicciardini Calamai , who anticipates the next steps of the Consortium: “ After the excellent success of Rosso Morellino, it is time to face the second part of the year with further investments in strategic markets and segments, also in international level. The aim is to increase penetration and market shares and expand the already substantial target of enthusiasts capable of appreciating the natural uniqueness of Morellino di Scansano”.
