Montalcino > 23 and 24 September OpenDay of the Caseificio dei Barbi

To celebrate the two new medals won at the Mondial du Fromage 2023 ( Gold for the Cacio alla Presura | Excellences of Montalcino and Bronze for the Cacio with Chestnut Honey and Pollen) and to give the many cheese enthusiasts the opportunity to get to know the Caseificio up close, on 23 and 24 September '23 the Caseificio dei Barbi in Montalcino (Si) - part of the historic Fattoria dei Barbi | well-known winery producing Brunello - joins OpenDay Dairies - the opening weekend of artisanal and agricultural dairies - and opens its doors to the public with guided tours starting at 10.30am and 4.00pm followed by tasting. Reservation required. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the dairy, to experience a journey along the cheese production process and to see the maturing warehouses where the wheels rest and are cared for daily while waiting to reach the right maturation. At the end of the tour, a tasting where you can discover the differences between the different seasonings and also be able to purchase the products.

Guided tours will be organized for a maximum of 15-20 people at a time. It is therefore essential to book in advance. The entrance ticket is 20 euros per person including tasting. The visits are conducted in Italian and English.

Upon request, there is also the possibility of a guided tour of the historic cellar of the Fattoria Dei Barbi and the Brunello Museum. On the farm there is also the Taverna dei Barbi , a refreshment point, where you can have lunch and calmly taste cheeses paired with Fattoria dei Barbi wines and much more.
