The small Moldovan republic has diversified its tourist offer by dividing it into itineraries and experiences with a focus on food and wine, nature, culture and folklore

WINE TOURISM

The focus of the offer is on food and wine and in particular on the Iter Vitis wine route, recognized as a cultural itinerary by the Council of Europe . Moldova is one of the world's largest wine producers and one of the international wine tourism destinations, with over 40 wineries equipped to welcome tourists with high-level services and experiences. The incredible underground cellars of Cricova and Milestii Mici are famous, unique in the world, which extend for tens of kilometers underground. Those who prefer traditional style cellars can visit the famous Chateau Purcari and Castel Mimì, historic homes and wineries among the oldest in Eastern Europe, founded at the end of the nineteenth century, and the more modern Chateau Vartely, which offer restaurants, accommodation, swimming pool and spa for wine-based treatments.

Moldova participates in the Bit, thanks to the support of the National Office of Tourism, to present a renewed and diversified tourist offer, with new itineraries and experiences that focus on food and wine, wine tourism, cultural heritage, crafts and folklore, but also nature tourism , active and sporty with a myriad of proposals. The private and public sectors collaborated using the know-how of ANTRIM, the National Association of incoming tour operators which participates in BIT with the support of the Moldova RCRA - Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity project, financed with USAID funds, which supports ANTRIM also for the promotion of the offer of its 112 members including tour operators, wineries, hotels, hostels, suppliers of tourist activities and the MICE sector. Also present at the Moldova stand were Castel MIMI - Wine resort and boutique hotel, the airline Fly One , the travel agency Panda Tur , the tour operator Tatrabis and APIT - National Association of Tourism Industry Patrons . DIVERSIFIED TOURIST OFFER

Moldova, one of the twenty largest wine producers in the world, is an agricultural country that focuses heavily on rural and food and wine tourism in valuable landscape and naturalistic contexts. In addition to the capital Chisinau, where there are accommodation facilities of all types, from boutique hotels to international chains, accommodation capacity in rural areas has increased significantly. These are above all welcoming family-run B&Bs and guesthouses located along cultural itineraries, wine routes, cycling and hiking routes that are part of the active and nature tourism offer, which also includes soft trekking, kayaking, climbing, SUP and birdwatching. On the official website moldova.travel you can find all the organized proposals for itineraries in central Moldova, towards the south in the autonomous region of Gagauzia, towards the north towards Vadul-Rascov and Socola. Without forgetting the naturalistic-archaeological site of Orheiul Vechi (Unesco candidate) with ancient medieval ruins, traditional villages and evocative rock monasteries.

AIR CONNECTIONS

There are many direct flights (duration 2 hours) departing from the main Italian airports operated by WizzAir (from Rome FCO, Venice Marco Polo and Milan MXP) and FlyOne (from Parma, Verona, Bologna, Milan MXP and ROME FCO).
