Mipaaf: soon Decree Law on IGP wine controls

  • 04/06/2012

The Ministry for Agricultural Policies requests the signing of the decree from the Council of Ministers for the controls on Dop Igp wines.

After the introduction of third parties for the certification of the PDO system (Docg-Doc), the procedure for checking the IGP was still to be defined.

Despite the legislative decree of 8 April 2010 n. 61 on the "protection of designations of origin and geographical indications of wines" had already received the favorable opinion of the Technical Committee for Agriculture, the important novelty for PGI wines will be the introduction of sample checks by certified third parties.

The Ministry wants to speed up the procedure: the quick resolution of the Council of Ministers could allow the definition of the provision by 10 June and allow the Ministry of Agriculture itself to evaluate new control plans by 31 July.
