MASI: From Oltrepò Pavese, the King's New Pinot Noir

From the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese hills comes a new excellence: Pinot Noir del Re, the wine that Masi dedicates to the grape variety that is the symbol of this wine-growing region.

After the classic Moxxè del Re Brut and Rosé sparkling wines, now, from specially selected clones, the new still Pinot Noir from the historic winery known throughout the world is born .

Pinot Noir del Re comes to life on the Tenuta Casa Re estate , acquired by Masi in 2023, in Montecalvo Versiggia in the Versa valley , adjacent to the municipality of Santa Maria La Versa, known throughout history for the emblematic Italian sparkling wine 'La Versa'.

The vineyard , a single body on a 15-hectare property , is entirely cultivated with Pinot Noir and is immersed in a prestigious landscape.

The Oltrepò Pavese, historically suited to growing Pinot Noir, is the third largest in the world. It is the ideal terroir for this demanding grape variety, which requires precise environmental conditions and a great deal of attention to achieve its full potential.

“ Pinot Noir is 'the' wine, without any ifs or buts: essential and never ostentatious; it doesn't like excess and, despite its well-defined personality, it doesn't require long maturation but rather respect for its nature. Here, in the Oltrepò Pavese, it finds its ideal area and reaches its maximum expression in a perfect balance of refinement and silkiness, ” emphasizes Sandro Boscaini , president of the Masi Group .

Pinot Noir del Re , the fruit of the Masi Technical Group 's winemaking expertise, is born from a rigorous selection of grapes grown on calcareous soils enriched with marl and silty clay. Aged for just six months in oak, it accentuates its distinctive character without compromising its natural delicacy.

Ruby red in color, this red opens with sophisticated aromas that hint at its vibrant personality. Subtle tannins and a unique finesse make it a timeless wine, capable of establishing itself as the perfect expression of its terroir :
